I've made a video demonstration that might not make sense without reading the description. This might be considered "hackish" and might better be done with something like tmk firmware if possible. I've also written this post on creating modal keybindings for programs that don't support them. I have a blog and dotfiles repo dedicated to the subjest of mousless computer usage, though the former only has one post and the latter needs to be updated. A session takes less than 5 minutes and covers about 10 shortcuts' and is an app in the os & utilities category.

There's plenty of other tui software that is very keyboard friendly. Yi also has vi bindings by default.įor mail, there's teledactyl (based on muttator) for thunderbird. There's also emacs of course (which has evil, the best "vim mode" of them all). Similarly, atom has a plugin for vim mode and chalcogen for embedded vim. There are quite a few great plugins for pentadactyl as well (such as pterosaur which basically embeds vim in all text boxes). None of them compare to pentadactyl in my experience. For faking keyboard/mouse input, there are tools like xdotool, xsendkey, xdo, xte, xpybind, etc.įor chrome, there's cvim, which has more features than vimium. MouseKeys - Built in to Windows, requires a numpad.
